I'm back!!! And i hate it! haha! i wish i could stay there longer, and along with some funds i might just settle there cos the things there are SO SO SO SO SO SO ULTRA CHEAP!!! WAAAAA!!!
ok some info, was staying in this hotel called Asia hotel. wasnt that impressive but after SHOPPING for 4 FULL days, you would relaly appreciate the fact the the hotel is connected to a skytrain station called Rachatewi. And this is like one stop away from the central, Siam. spent 4 full days SHOPPing literally.
Ok this is so not me but im going to give a full 4 day report of my trip. (then people wont ask me too! hahaha)
DAY 1 07012008
arrived bangkok at about 8 plus. flew by tiger airways. caught a glimpse of thailand in the morning. a lot of padi fields. very very very nice agricultural landscape, together with the sunrise, its just wonderful. by the time we got out of the airport, took a taxi and all that, we checked in the hotel at about 10 plus. gosh i was beat. no joke. had to be at the airport at like 430 am and considering i didnt catch a wink of sleep the previous night cos of the cell chalet, i was literally a walking zombie when i reached the hotel. put down my stuff, got changed at took a little rest, then headed for siam, the main shopping central in bangkok. had lunch at MBK when we passed by there and had tom yum goog and phad thai! omg taste good man! super spicy but super shiok! and not to mention, SUPER CHEAP. 35 baht for a plate of phad thai, thats less than like 2 SGD! then after that met rachel's friend, champ, at abt noon at siam paragon. he actually studied in sg until o levels, then went back to thailand to get his degree. funny guy and all, but really hospitable. so he took us around siam square for a while. the things there are more expensive, but they have really really nice stuff there. then was supposed to meet pear, my thai classmate:) at 2 pm but she got caught up. so we ended up having tea at this place called mango tango. super good mango desserts, recommendation by champ. haha. when pear came it was almost like 4 plus 5 already. but we were like super hungry, so pear brought us to this restaurant at the corner of siam, opposite novotel called eh... i dunno what issit called also. but anyway its a japanese restaurant. despite it being a restaurant, i managed to taste kobe beef and i paid like what? 10 SGD! so after the dinner i had to lao sai cos of the super spicy tom yum goong in the day. haha. then we went to bonanza mall! a lot of nice stuff there as well, but more ex also. after bonanza we went back to our hotel and totally zonked out. slept at like 11 plus while some of them went to the pub with pear and bf.
DAY 2 08012008
woke up at abt 8 and had a sumptuos hotel breakfast. ABF! WHEE! had like 3 eggs at least. haha. then we went MBK to buy LINGERIE! hahaha. i had the most shou huo. bought like 7 TOPS and 6 BOTTOMS. hahahaha. i spent so much money there that i actually had to go back to hotel to get extra money. so i left teh group and went back to hotel, then took a skytrain to siam where they were cutting their hair at some salon that pear recommended. if i had the money i would do my hair too. super cheap. professional service at like neighbourhood prices. haha. after the hair cut we took a tuk-tuk to platinum mall, which is at the pratunam market area, to have our lunch at the food court. after lunch we walked into the baiyoke/pratunam market. super hot and squeezy. didnt get much from there. best buy were 60 baht t shirts, bought abt 5 of them (60 baht is about 2plus SGD) and 80 baht watches (thats abt like 3 plus SGD). then we had problems getting out of the market area and back to our hotel. decided to have dinner at platinum mall. in the end we ate kfc at about 8 plus pm like starved vultures. hahaha. then made our way back to the hotel on foot (i thought that was rather impressive considering it wasnt a short walk) so u could imagine how tired we were when we reached the hotel. but we were jokers la, decided to buy some alcohol from 7-11 adn have a party in our hotel room. bacardi breezer is like 2+SGD. so we had the party in my room (minqi adn jingwen)and while we were waiting for the rest to come, we actually decorated the room a little. we took the bed runner and wrapped the spot light lamp and took out the red cushion covers and covered the lamp shades so the whole room was so COOL! its totally like a club. hahaha. so they came over and we made everyone wear something they got from shopping. so we were like in shades, scarfs jackets and everything. haha. then played this game called 'i have never ever' silly la but fun. hahaha.
DAY3 09012008
Same routine in the morning, good breakfast, and set off for shopping at platinum mall itself. the mall actually has all the wholesale shop. so actually u see people coming to buy good in bulk for sale some where else, that would include singaporeans as well. the good thign was, we actually came as 7, so there were so many whole sale price opportunities for us. all u need to do is buy 3 pieces and above and u get the wholesale price. besides, u still can bargain more if u buy more! i was spending like no tml over there. everything was so so so so so cheap. ive decided maybe i should open a boutique in sg and get my goods from there. anyway. something interesting. i managed to buy working pants there. and u know right, pants must try one, cannot just buy like that. so u know how i tried it on with NO fitting room at all? simple. they provide u with this long stretchable batik skirt. u wear it over ur shoulders and you do what u have to do inside it. haha amazing right? min qi took a video of me demonstrating how to do it. haha. and guess what, in the end i bought 2 pairs for abt 20+ SGD. CHEAP. and guess what, saw an SA senior over there la. like how small can the world get. we bought so much there that we look like one of those wholesale people who buy their goods in bulk. haha. after the shopping there we actually squat in one circle outside the mall and sorted our things. haha. like some auntie la. haha. so after all the shopping and all, we walked back from that area to our hotel again! then went for thai massage near our hotel! it was quite shiok except the part they keep touching our groin area, super sensitive can! hahaha. and very cheap, abt 200 baht an hour. (about 8+SGD) then we had dinner at the road side stall near the hotel! and it was super good!!!!!!!! meatball stick noodles, grilled meatballs, hoitord(something like or lua) and phad thai!!!! whee!!! super good. im going to go back there for the food next time. its AMAZING! so went back to the hotel and was totally full adn tired. guess what, the hotel guy came to our room and made us sign a receipt of 500 baht. guess what was that for? we actually burnt the bed runner while we wrapped it over the spot light and we had to pay for it. so its like sitting on my bed now. hahaha. ridiculous right. but aiyah come to think of it quite funny la. then after everything, started packing up cos checking out tml. then realised that we bought so much we can hardly pack them into our baggages. hahaha.
DAY 4 10012008
checked out in the morning and deposited out baggages with the hotel. still had our sumptous ABF, and set out for siam for some last minute shopping. went to bonanza and got like cheap slippers. 7 of us bought 15 pairs of slippers. how cool is that. then we went to A&W, had a root beer adn sat down for a while. most of us were too broke to have anything so ended up not eating lunch. hahaha. champ came to meet us then we went to MBK to buy local food products. bought a lot there also. haha. packed them in two huge boxes. super kua zhang. then rachel wasnt feeling well, so champ being nice, went to drive his car over and drove rachel back to the hotel and drove our barangs back too. by the time we reached the hotel, it was abt 5 already. jing wen and i went to eat at the roadside stall for the last time ( we just couldnt resist) hahaha. then went back to the hotel and set off for the airport. when we got to the airport, we realised that the 500 baht we had been saving for aiport taxes was actually inculded in what we paid. we were both elated and sian. cos we had no where to spend it on. haha. but for me it was good cos initially i owed min qi like 440 baht for the food and i cleared by bet! used the remaining money to buy a packet of BK onion rings and had them on the way back to sg on the plane. love the view from the top at night. all the lights and stars, breathtaking. yup, and after that, HOME SWEET HOME!
